Vectra lowering springs ?

Hi, I've recently fitted a set of Eibach springs to my SRi.

Eibach front springs are rated in 3 groups; (the non-estate rears are all 945kgs)

up to 870kgs
871kgs to 975kgs
976kgs to 1055kgs
My front axle loading is 995kgs, and I checked the Eibach website, and I was correctly supplied with a set of V6 springs.

The rears have lowered a treat, but the front has dropped about 4mm 🙁

I've spoken to Eibach, and they've said that the 2.2 engined Vectras can be tricky RE front springs, because the front axle loading is only 20kgs above the V6 springs limit.
They've advised me to clock up 500 miles, and if they haven't settled the same as the rears, they will exchange my fronts for a set from a 2.0 (871kgs to 975kgs) but they are concerned that after a year or so, they may droop, of even collapse completely because my axle loading is above the 975ksg limit.

What front springs have you guys fitted to your Vectra, 2.0 spec or V6 spec ?? :?

the 2.2 engine requires petrol 16v springs 🙂

Eibach are wrong supplying v6 springs for the 2.2, they have done it to loads of owners, they really should have learn't their lesson by now.

The only solution is to fit the petrol 16v springs, it will NEVER settle :evil:

ps: I've got Koni 2.0 16v springs on mine, perfect 😃

I didn't think it would, but they've agreed to exchange them, so I'll go along with the 500 mile thing 63..

I raised the question with LMF when I ordered them, and Steve rang Eibach, who confirmed that call when I spoke to them this week.

Not sure why they keep advising V6 springs, when they know 2.0 springs are correct :?

what's even more annoying is LMF know the 2.2 requires petrol 16v springs, because they've had other vectra owners complain about the wrong supplied springs.

I hope they pay for them to be changed over :evil:

it doesn't take much to realise an all alloy 16v engine weighs less than a V6 engine :oops:
and infact it weighs less than a 2.0 16v engine :roll:

Na. it's not going to cost me a bean 😃

I actually wondered if my axle loading sticker was correct, because I didn't think the 2.2 was that much heavier than my old 2.0.

Eibach simply play it safe. Put yourself into their position: could you recommend springs that are not correctly rated to the car? NO. If someting goes wrong you could sue them and there would be nothing they could say to defend themselves.
