HELP GUYS EGR !!!!

Guys this is bloody driving me crazy....

car drives ok then egr kicks off and throws a wobbler and the car runs like
crap and rocks and allsorts

so i take egr off and find lumps of carbon in there.

whats goin on....?

ive just had a new manifold fitted????

any ideas???

im sick of takin off the egr to remove carbon..... on thrd time now.

buy a blanking plate from vaux and bolt the egr to one side 🙂

is it just vxl i can get it from - part no.? will it do any damage and will it sort out my lumpy idle ???

Feels like something is holdin the car back - lack of power thru gears..

Well after having so much trouble ive taken the egr off and cleaned it out and put it on (again) but this time ive not plugged it in. runs like a dream now - but my eml is on and ive ordered a blankin plate... how do i clear the eml when i fit my blankin plate as just pluggin the egr back in does not clear it......

plug the egr valve back in and then reset the ecu (disconnect battery for 10 minutes)

when you take off the EGR is it supposed to move freely or is it held solid by some solonoid? as i took mine off the other day and couldnt push it in.

when removed the egr valve lifts up, not goes down :?

when i removed my egr valve to blank it off it was in the down position and would not move???

it is blanked now tho but it did not cure the problem 🙁

it lifts away from the valve body, so increases in length

so if it's taken off the middle will/should be loose to increase in length....?

well my valve when in off position is closed and is held there by a spring - so unpluggin it keeps it closed so acts like no valve.

the spring keeps the valve closed, if you move the spring the valve should open very easily 🙂

yes thats correct so like i said when unplugged it stays shut and held shut by the spring. the valve opens so that the pin moves down and opens the valve - its this thats gettin jammed with cus little bits of carbon get stuck keepin it open.... car dont like... anyway after unpluggin it my car is on fire - loads of torque, very responsive altho shes a little lumpy on idle as she needs to settle in. shes been thru alot laterly......... also with egr blanked off what happens to be fuel comp.

no side affects by blanking the egr, that's why vx dealers blank them and the usa models don't even have them fitted :shock:

my car is doin the same and a blanking plate didnt help!!!

i no that you can get the egr wiped from the ecu on newer cars but mine is a 51 2001 so i thought i couldnt do it without the car pickin up a fault??? also been told it would run crap with the egr unplugged completely??

you will get an eml with the egr unplugged 🙁

I'm in the same boat, my egr valve was dead, but it's blanked off

so I don't want to buy a new valve which is doing nothing :evil:
