If you do a lot of mileage the Michelins Pilot are any ones best bet.
On my third set of Toyo Proxes T1R, might last 3 months on the front. Totally bald on rear within 18k, It surprised me, thought they would have been half worn as i do a lot of straight lining.
Just slapped some sell off Goodyear F1 on the rear £75 each fitted (new model out), wish i had have had all four, better in the wet, dry, no squealing, side walls dont fold and a better ride overall than the Pilots.
One of the worst tyres i was subjected to was the Avon ZZ3, reasonably ok in dry and wet when new, but use em for a short time 1k and the sidewalls fold no matter what pressure in them within reason. Also within 10 months tread still lokked newish 1/5th worn maybe, bulges appeared on these walls, no i dont bounce up kerbs.
Best tyre ever made for road use was the old Yoko A008, you could get the back end out in the dry with NCT on rear on front wheel drive XR2! Nothing comes close rain sleet or shine. AVS nowhere near as good. A539 rubbish. Last i heard A008 were only available as the R for track use only.
