failed mot (vec sri 150)

2 cracked front springs ( damn speedbumps) and a leaking power steering rack. Private garage quoted me £200 to replace the front springs, is this about right??? Also can a steering rack be serviced or is it a full replacement job??

the steering rack could just be the pipe seals, they are cheap, but a fiddly job to do.

is £200 supply and fit, if so not bad price BUT it has -20mm springs being a sri and I bet they will try and fit standard springs :evil:

ps: the 2.2 uses the petrol sri 16v springs NOT the V6 sri springs cheers..
the v6 engine is much heavier than the z22se, so the front end will be higher :shock:

ive just thrown 2 brand new front springs away as no body wanted them....

They failed mine on handbrake travel which i told them to adjust rather than fail it, front left spring, only the last 1" missing and still sitting on the flat area. They missed the failed rear shocker but recommended sorting the handbrake drivers side out which went through at the bare min, just the way a local dealership left it for years!
Mad panic need car, 3pm pulled a favour and had some springs delivered to a Mitsubishi dealer within half an hour. I was adament whether the correct ones were ordered, checked and double checked etc. Turns out the thing sits about 1 1/4"higher than before and only needed for the retest, another sad story would not fit me in until 6 days time, so went elsewhere and paid another £40.
