Key Fob - New battery....problem

hello, the battery in my original key fob for my vectra was knackered, so i have been using my spare ket for past couple of months.

today, i bought a battery to replace the old one in my original key. according to manual, i had to re-synchronise by turning the key into ignition position, wait about 30 secs and press either the lock or open button on the fob. It is then supposed to lock and unlock, to show that it has syncronised. Done it a few times and nothing happens!!!!

any advise, suggestions, would be of great help!!!

Don't wait for 30 seconds. Turn the ignition on and press the button straight away and that should do it 🙂 . So as soon as the ignition lights come on press the button on the remote

you should open the drivers door and leave it open, then switch on the ignition and press the lock button on the fob, the doors should lock then unlock

you should press the button within a few seconds of switching on the ignition

My way works also as my battery is low and the remote fails sometimes. The doors lock on me when I am just sitting in the car doing it without them being open.

just to add....

my mates astra needed it's key reprogramming, but I had to turn the igntion off, remove the key then press the lock button, weird notsure.gif

tried all possible combination of things. dont work. sorry, iam a bit of novice.

when you say, turn ignition on, does it mean, start the car engine or just turn the key to either position 1 or 2 without starting the engine ( marked as I and II ), will try again.

editing this now.... its strange though, when i put the fob in question, the wipers go off once !!! and traffic master sounds a message !!! lol.
