power steering fluid = EML

does a low level in the power steering fluid res bring in an engine management warning light?

I got one the other day after fitting my EGR blanking plate, I thought I had left enough room for the valve to open but adjusted it anyway. When I looked at my power steering res it was low so I topped that up. I disconnected my battery for 10 mins to cancel the EML and it has ran fine this morning to work.

the low level on the power steering shouldn't bring up an engine management warning light, the EML monitors only the emissions and the engine running. There is another light for the electrics.

this one looked like an alternator, would the power steering bring that in?
what does the eml look like?

might just have been the blanking plate slightly touching the egr valve piston
