"Well thats the end of my Vectra its a total loss due to a arson attack this Sunday.
Some scumbag decided it would be a bit of fun to smash a hole in my garage roof and pour some form of accellerent through followed by a match or something like that.
At the top end of my garage i kept an old tyre, which i used as a buffer for the front bumper to save any damage if i did not judge it properly.
This is what the firebrigade say went up first and as my cars bumper was resting on the tyre the car was next to go up in flames.
I was out of the house at the time helping my daughter move home, but as i returned home in her car we were greeted with a scene from a movie.
My garage door had been prized open by the brigade to gain entry and pump in foam, they then had to smash the drivers window so they could open the door and get to the handbrake enabling them to push it out of the garage, followed by more foam.
There was my pride and joy steaming and smoking with nothing left of the front end -- anything that was plastic or flamable was gone -- bumper/grille/headlamps/wiring/etc,etc and what was not flamable was reduced to twisted metal.
The ally engine had melted and congelled in in places, there was no a sign of the air con pipes and the front suspension bushes had burnt out makin the wheels tilt a crazy angle.
Fire damage to the windscreen had turned it black and there was no paint to be seen anywhere on the twisted bonnet or front wings.
The interior was untouched but the smell was awfull and the paintwork on the rest of the car was heat damaged.
As you no doubt understand i was gutted as i has owned the car from 6 month old and now she is dead.
Had to take time of work yesterday to sort out the insurance etc,but they said i was not entitled to a courtesy car as it was not a road accident --- finally the gave me one for three days.
The accessor will look at the car today and hopefully will get a call tomorrow to what there gong to pay me -- the bloody thing is a total loss.
Here is a bit of good news --- when me and the wife came back from the pub on Sunday night after drowing our sorrows there was a bunch of the local "mafia" stood at the bottom of our drive, as we approached a voice said "hi Leo,we have got some news for you" they then told me a name and address of who they held responsble and then added "we know how much you thought of that car, its not on"
After contacting the police with the information i left it in thier hands to further the enquiries, only to recieved a phone call from the police to say that the name that i had given had come up three more times when making enquiries.
So in the morning the police are coming to my home for a statement and hopefully the issuse can be concluded -- the scumbag may never get to court, thats what seems to happen these days.
Oh yeah -- had a bit of advice from the police "dont do anything silly" and "dont arrange anything silly" now we all know what that means.
Im still bubling and will keep you updated."
