dead locking

hi guys

just bought my coupe and tried to dead lock it both with the key and with the remote. once i lock it and then try to lock it again it makes this winey noise as if it locking but i can still open the door by pulling the door pin up :? am i doing somthing wrong or are the locks nackard?

Baldie are you pressing the button twice??? If you are and reading your post again it sounds like you are then I'd imagine either your locks knackered or mibbe the keys need reset by vxl? As for the winey noise don't have a clue mibbe best giving Vocky a pm or waiting till he reads this post mate dunno.. Good luck mate hope you get it sorted cheers..

i am turning the key twice to the left ( towards back of the car ) and i am pressing the key twice, both ways dont work. but i can lock the car just not dead lock it

Thought that! Sounds more like a fault in your locking system and if the button's locking the car when you press it twice and you're trying it with the key in the lock but it's not deadlocking it then I don't think it'll be that the keys need reset??? When you press the button are the hazard lights flashing? Sorry couldn't help you out but as I said mibbe Vocky or one of the other mods might be able to give you a better awnser than this...

I would open the window and close the door, then press the button twice, see if it you can actually open the door

if it doesn't deadlock then it's a fault in the central locking, probably the drivers door locking mechanism, I had to replace one on a vec I used to own

cost about £50 from the dealers for the complete unit

my boss had the same problem with a combi van; it would lock but not deadlock, then sometimes wouldn't work at all. Took it to VX and they replaced the speedo bit of the dash, said it was faulty. Cost £300 inc vat. Robbing BA****DS!!

ffs just bought the car aswell 🙁 is there anyway of diagnosing the problem before buying things or is it just a case of taking it to vauxhall and seeing what they say, also how much will this cost 🙁 🙁 🙁

My boss wasn't interested, he just payed up, but i think it was summat to do with the control for the remote sensor, i'm quite sure it could have been repaired but VX just replaced the whole lot (as they do). sorry i couldn't have been more help 🙁

that's what makes me think it could be the drivers lock mechanism dunno..

since yer talking bout a whiney noise its prolly something else but just have to ask this:

when ur trying to deadlock it, are u sitting in the car? or do u try it from outside with the window down.

because i cant deadlock either when im sitting in my car but it worx when u try it from outside. (just ask my friend lol he didnt know wtf was going on ^^)

just been out to the car and put the window down and pressed the key twice but would only lock it and it didnt make a winey noise and the dead lock didnt work. put the window back up and and pressed it twice and it attempted to dead lock with a winey noise.

i was trying to do it sat in the car but like you said it doesnt work, is their anyone else who has found this?

don't work inside the car, unless you open and close the door without turning the ignition on 🙂
