Removing main impact bar?

How do you remove the big bar that sits behind the dash that goes from A post to the other A post notsure.gif . I can't get the heater matrix out unless I remove that bar dunno.. . I have removed 2 torque bolts from the drives side, but one came out different that the other stopping it from becoming free. The passenger side ones look different again dunno..

I would not advise removing that bar, when the vectra B first came out there was a recall due to it being incorrectly fitted :roll:

the result is constant cracking windscreens :shock:

Ah balls. I can't get the matrix out or in with it in the way. Any ideas mate

I would destroy the melted heater box to remove it, clean up the melted plastic and then try the new heater unit

if you have to remove the bar, the car must be on level ground and the bolts must be tightened to the correct torque or the screen will crack over speed bumps 🙁

Ah poop. I have removed the 2 drivers ones already. The heater box will defo not go in with this bar in the way. It's a shame it does not come off in parts. I noticed some bolts on the sides but have not had a good look at it yet. The heater box I took off another one did not have the bolts on it. I might give up and throw the car on Ebay....

the main bolts are behind the black grommets in the door shuts

I would finish the project off as a nice profit awaits 🙂

as long as the car is level and the bolts are tightened correctly, then it should be fine, the first vecs were sorted at the dealers, so you should be able to do it too 🙂

Cool. I have just found a Vectra 2.2 the same colour as mine breaking and have to phone the guy back in half an hour about the harness and matrix. It's a 2 hours drive from me but if it's a decent price then I will be sorted. I could also do with the headlining from it as mine is smokey
