simply help needed for idiot

finally got my car back with new engine...

it's not the same as before but hopefully just needs running in. anyone have any experience of this?

they gave me a list of recommendations, but i don't know much about engines, so...

where do i top up the gearbox oil?
how do i know if theres enough antifreeze and can a car have too much?
where is the thermostat located?
the list also has "Flywheel (skin)" wrote on....what does this mean??

and finally in a list of "parts required/recommended" what the hell do they mean by sundries?? air filter and sparks are aleady on the list

Its probably means flywheel "skim" rather than skin, If the clutch was worn and left markings on the flywheel or it had small heat cracks etc they will have skimmed a slight amount off the face.

Sundries can mean anythings like brake/clutch cleaner,nuts,bolts,cable ties etc. That sort of stuff that doesnt really have a part number.

they mean they have cleaned the flywheel by removing some metal on a lathe 🙂

common thing to do, but easy to rip someone off with, as you will never see it's been done.

my mate's gearbox went, they said he needed a new clutch too, so the quote was quite high. He asked me to have a look and after removing the gearbox I found the clutch was brand new and he only needed a gearbox, he would never have known :evil:

The face where the clutch sits mate. Your clutch "might" have been worn and could have been worn down to the rivets which inturn "might" have marked the flywheel slighly.
