i currently have a livebox from orange

i beleave im im right in thinking

i have this laptop coming tommrow

the middle 1 £429

will i be able to connect to the net wireless with out having any usb connectors in the laptop ?

if so how easy is it to do ?

If the laptop is has a wireless card then yep.

Altthough i have heard some nasty things about the livebox, that is why mine is still in the box and i bought a belkin wireless modem/router.

Router cutting you off for no reason or just going off altogether.

It could just be customers complaining over nothing since i have not tried mine.

Gaz, if the router and laptop are wireless, you'll be able to get them to communicate.

sorted guys im on it now in the garden 😃

can you help me out though

i have set up the acount on here fine but how do i password protect
it so no 1 else can get on my connection if they are sitting out side my house next door etc ?

or am o thinking silly ?

yes it can be done Gaz, go to the security tab in the wireless section on the routers web page and you should see something like the following

change the security mode to WPA-PSK and the encryption to TKIP then enter your password into the box below, tick box showing obscure PSK then hit apply changes and that should be it. you might need to be plugged into the router to do it.

I don't run password protection on my connection, I simply lock the access down to mac address. Not the safest option, but by far the easiest.

i use that too Matt, can never be too carefull when wireless is concerned.

i watch Real Hustle on BBC3 and there was a feature on there about wireless networks and it was shocking to see what they could do with wireless networks :shock:
