Replaced Timing Chain!

Replaced my timing chain today on my 51plate Astra Coupe, as it had done 95k with no history of it being done and also cause it had a slight rattle on some cold starts. When i got it all stripped down and removed the oil jet, i found that it was the old style dodgy one. Im surprised that it has lasted 95k! Most peoples on here seem to go at 40k-50k!

my car had done 120k when i had my chain done, the old one had plenty of oil on it when it was being removed too.

mine snapped at 97k with old style (blocked) jet, no idea of history

MY vec b was on about the same mileage as yours and it never rattled. I still had it changed, just to be sure. Seems they can be quite hit and miss. If you get past 50k they seem to go on for a while

Yeah they do seem a hit and miss. Probably helped that the car has got a decent service history, I don't no!

Thats the first chain that I have ever done on a vehicle done plenty of cambelts as I am a mechanic. It was a bit tricky to start off with but when I finished the job I realised that it is not that bad to do really!
