Whistling sound

Morning all, Ive recently had my water pump changed, didnt fancy attempting it myself due to access, and the need for the plate to hold the bolts in place when the pump was removed. I therefore had it changed in a back street / village garage, it now whistles like a good-un! the pitch changing as the engine revs up & down.
Is it possible that it could have been fitted incorrectly causing the chain to whine or just a knackered pump. notsure.gif

or may be the aux belt is to tight? my previous car sounded like it was supercharged due to the power steering belt overtightened could it be that?

It wasn`t done at that garage on the left as you leave marham? Aux belt tensioner is an self tensioning jobbie, does the noise come from the water pump area (back of the engine). You could take the aux belt off rev engine and see how it goes or take it back to the garage. noth.

I had it checked out at Griffen autos in North Walsham, they changed the aux belt and tensioner and the sound was still apparent, just unsure if the water pump can be fitted slightly incorrectly if not done properly, (with the bolt bracket thingy!)
Griffen used a stethoscope and its definately from the water pump area, must be that then. Should of been more asertive and taken it straight back, just worried as its driven by the chain.

if they didnt use the tool..........may have done something...............did they strip the hole thing down remove both chains fit the pump then refit both chains ..i dont think so do you ???

Ill have to have the pump checked again, the cars on 72K at the mo and the miles I cover they soon mount up.
I wouldnt mind getting the chain etc replaced around the 80K mark so will look at getting the pump replaced then.

Don`t think it a major problem with the pump, just feel a right plonker :oops: driving through towns etc with this horrible whining noise.
