Fitting Cruise control

My Astra Sri did not have cruise control when I bought it. I know cars with the fly by wire throttle (electronic) can have it fitted easy enough. All thats needed for this is the cruise control skalk, and clutch switch. These are cheap enough from the main dealer, less than £50. I fitted the stalk and clutch switch and took my car for a test run. It worked straight away 😃 . This mod can be done on the 2.2 car from the Vectra to Astra and others.

Parts needed:

Cruise control stalk
Clutch Switch

fitted it to mine to, was chuffed t bits when it work and was cheap to do aswell.

I even used the stalk from a Vectra 2.2 as it looked the same and it worked 😛 . The clutch switch was different though

would it work on a astra van 1.7dti (fly by throttle)??

I think it is possable Rossy as I know some other diesel owners had talked about it on another forum I visit. Have you got a black box on your throttle pedal?

did this on my car last year its a great easy mod to do & cheap considering you pay god knows how much as an extra for your car from vauxhall

does anyone actually use thier cruise control. I've got it as standard on my coupe, but have never really got on with it unless the road is really clear. I find that you are constantly adjusting the speed and it seems easier to keep your foot on the throttle.

If I was buying new and it was extra I don't think i would pay extra for it.

I use mine when I have a police car behind me cops.. . I also use it on roads I don't know that well for hidden speed cameras 🙂

what sort of roads and speeds do you use it on.

I use mine in 30 zones and on the motorway. Not all the time just near schools and stuff :wink:

btw the list price for c/control is £340, so massive saving 😃

Won't be looking at that this week, got to get the pre-cat done. Forgot it was half term here, everything's been on holdf except for nailing the oil problem

Very easy to fit and use it when I can, motorways in light traffic and at 40 & 50 roadworks where there are more cameras than workmen.

Completed the Cruise Control mod yesterday, fitted stalk and clutch switch went out for a drive and worked first time.

Must say thanks to Mark for the advice on where to find the clutch switch lead. 😃

Picked up a c/control stalk from the scrappy today, just got to get the clutch switch and have heard will need a brake switch? Going onto a facelift Vec with drive-by-wire

i didnt know retro-fitting cruise control was sooooo cheap!!
