Missed this update about the TB's. I dont think that the price is too bad either really. So do you get a complete new ECU? What kind of output will i get with filter & exhaust as well? Also is MPG going to really drop?

Neil,

Will there be issues with the REV limit so high on standard inetrnals? Also do you know about MPG neil this may be a route i may look down but if my MPG is going to drop loads it's not a viable option for me.

This is just my opinion and I may be shot down in flames but I would definately expect to have a personal tanker following me about ready with the Optimax!!

I'd imagine that you would only notice high consumption when you're driving it hard. But with the noise that they make it would be hard not to drive like a nutter!!

you can request a 7000rpm rev limit, certainly not worth going above 7250 with standard conrods :roll:

fuel consumption will be similar below 4000 rpm, the extra fuel kicks in above that figure 🙂

but as johnny so rightly says, you will want to listen to them 'all day long' drool.gif

regal sell the dbilas turbo conversion for about £4.5k

courtenay do the sc for £5.5k

so the tms itb's is right in the middle at £5k

I cant justify 5k on my some engines mods to my car, when i can sell mine, add 6k and pick up a 2nd hand VXR.

Does any one know the ECU Code that comes with the kit, cause I'm really interested in seeing if I can make this work on Cobalts and Ions too.

yet another cobalt guy here....your gonna be getting a few of em soon since someone posted a link to these itb's on our cobalt forum

anyway, after reading the thread...a big concern seems to be the high revs. to keep your motor going, you'll need a set of neutral balance shafts, as the stock balance shafts arent mean to rev any higher than about 7kRPM...however, some new connecting rods couldnt hurt either
you're also going to need a new stronger valvetrain
ferrera is the most common set for us cobalt owners

(this is assuming you have the same internals as us)

the usa and euro engines are built at the same factory, most of my tuning items came from the usa, including eagle steel rods 🙂
