Robin When do the Z22SE rods start to go wrong? X16 ones have been proven to be fine up to about 9k, so that's an obvious advantage. I suppose the big gains would come from the other bits, cams, headwork etc, which presumably that power figure doesn't account for?
vocky a swedish guys crank snapped at 8051 rpm  that was with eagle rods, so with standard rods probably less :?
Robin Oooh, that's not so good. Seems strange though, GM are normally very good at over-engineering their engines 🙁

vocky the price is for the complete package, the throttle bodies kit includes a new ecu and wiring loom 🙂

TimSri £3000 for a 40 bhp increase seems pointless really. Would it not make more sense to sell your 2.2, together with the £3000 for this conversion, to buy a GSI/SRI Turbo?
vocky I know what you mean  it would be cheaper to fit a z20let to a vectra, sell an astra / zafira or vx220 and buy a z20let version, than buy throttle bodies 🙁 even worse for the sc conversion, that's £5,000 🙁
Robin It's all about the noise and throttle response though, you could argue that 5k on a 200bhp engine in a Corsa isn't worth it when you could throw a C20LET in for half that, but the 1.6 would be the better car as the engine is lighter. The Z22 is lighter than the Z20, so I know what I'd go for (if the power figures were the same), I'd just be more out of pocket
vocky I totally agree, cost wise it's a 'no brainer' but performance wise it's a must 😃 I prefer the noise and power a na engine produces, I'm not a huge fan of turbo's  I could be tempted to try a sc conversion, but throttle bodies will end up on my z22se 8)
M22APW vocky said: even worse for the sc conversion, that's £5,000 🙁 but the s/c VX220 is absolutely fantastic to drive and the noise from the supercharger....... it is well worth the cost...... Drive one, you'll believe me...... 😃

I'm just down the road and I have an engine block to pick up 😃

vocky should be posted very soon, apparently a joint press release by TMS and Webcon in the next few weeks
Robin I see. I imagine the 'curve' will be more impressive than the figure itself anyway, going on past experience of TBd engines.
