Anyone done the Pre Cat mod?

Anyone done the Pre Cat mod? I did this the other week and it took me 6 hours :lol: . I did not know I had to drill all the way through the pre cat :oops: . My exhaust system sound different now ity's been done, it now pops and burps lol 😛

i had to buy a new cat for my vectra as the flexi had split, luckily there was no precat in it so it saved me the hassle of the drilling lol.

Thats something I want to do, remove the precat. Supposed to release 5-8 ponies, allegedly 😃

Problem I got is on-road parking, and I haven't got a clue what to do, so it's going to take me some time to get done. Couple that with every soft sod walking past asking me what im doing and eyeing up my tools, tends to make me leave any extensive work until I can borrow a m8's driveway 😃

Did you notice any more power when you done it?

precat does rob 5-8 bhp from the engine

I removed mine three years ago and you will notice the difference, just remember to drive moderately for @30 miles to allow the ecu to adjust.

You get the same power increase when you fit a 4-2-1 manifold, so potentially 10-15 bhp can be gained just from the exhaust manifold :shock:

I want to do this mod and replace the regular cat with a sports cat (about £50+ on ebay) then cut and weld it in

its FAR cheaper then the £500 ive been quoted!!!!

I dont think cars after 2003 have a pre cat. I found this out after I took off my front pipe and it wasent there! :evil:

has your front pipe been replaced at all? i bought a new one from a local motor factors and it came without a precat

may be the post 2003 cars have the 2.2 direct engine not the z22se

i have had mine removed and i have a 200 cell cat and nothing else, just straight through.makes all the difference.
