My brother is a HGV driver! You have to do your class 2 first which is a rigid wagon (no trailer) not sure on the costs. Class one which is a typlical HGV with 40ft trailer cost around £1500 for tests and lessons ect! But some agences are taking on drivers, putting them though the exam and once passed they take so much from their wages each week to cover the cost of the exams as long as they stay with the agency! Starting with an agency is the best way as most major companies will only take on drivers with a minimum of 2 years drivin experience which you can get with an agency. The only problem at the moment is the Polish, they will work for less money as the Ploish government pay so much towards their wage! My brither found this out when he lost his job and tried to sign up with an agency!
I have always fanced this my self but with being sat on your arse all day you do put on some weight!
