Balancer shafts

there are pro's and con's with the balancer shafts dunno..

they make the engine smoother 🙂

they rob power and add weight 🙁

so if you are rebuilding the bottom end is it worth removing them notsure.gif

if you decide you do then this is what you need to do....

cut off the remainder of the shaft

and create an idler gear

then the rear balancer oilway needs blanking, two ways of doing this, first remove the bearing and fit a new bearing 180 degrees out - thus blocking the oilway OR get a pair of collets made up

I would advise getting the crank rebalanced along with the flywheel and crank pulley

also get the pistons and rods balanced 🙂

fit eagle rods and wiseco pistons which should both be very well balanced 😃

deffo removing mine after all, just never seen any definate figures for removal or not!, they seem to more a comfort thing than anything else, not sure if its totally neccessary for me to balance, they shouldnt be that bad anyway surely, wonder how cheap that company is 🙂

I think removing them won't affect the vx220 as much because it has enough vibrations already :lol:

need to get the balance shafts cut up and send them to you too

i've found a place with a short engine, they are reconditioning it for me (new shells and overbore) and will fit my pistons + rods, hence im not so fussed about the balancing now, as you said the eagle rods and pistons should be pretty balanced anyways
