Removing Throttle Body

How hard/easy is it to do? Mine needs a good clean so i was thinking of whipping it off and giving it a good scrub. Im not that experienced with car mechanics in general but i am quite technically minded.

Can anyone give me a run down of pipes/bolts etc that need to be disconnected and any problems i may run into?

Whip off the induction pipe to the T/B. Remove the Negative battery lead. Remove the plug on the side of the T/B. Undo 4 bolts that secure the T/B to the inlet manifold and remove. Reassembly is the reverse of the above. Clean out with carb cleaner or brake cleaner.

Its as easy as that.

Sounds nice and easy. Any gaskets involved that i may need to replace like TB -> inlet manifold or is there not one there/reuse old one?

Also why do i need to remove -ve terminal off battery?

It uses a rubber gasket, should be fine to reuse, removing the battery lead is just a sensible precaution

As above really. Removing the battery lead also resets the parameters in the ECU. By cleaning the T/B you may find that the car needs to learn its settings again because the T/B should operate better.

Nice one guys. Will have a bash when i get a minute then. Sounds like a fairly quick job

if the throttle body is cleaned it is also a good idea to reset the ecu

the z22se ecu adjusts various parameters and it is very important to take it easy for 30 miles or so after the reset

this will give a much better responding engine, as the ecu parameters will have time to settle

I've lost count of how many owners are pleased they carried out this simple action cheers..

I am thinking of doing the same. But is there anything to done with my die grinder before I put it back???
