Almost 3 months after I posted this message and yet none of the Astras have had the timing chain replaced.
The Astra in worst conditions is not actually mine but my sister's. I was tired of telling her to get it fixed, but she was not really convinced I guess
Now it is not only scary to listen to the rattling (when cold only), but you can also feel how the engine vibrates, so tomorrow she'll take the car to get the chain replaced.
my astra now has 95.7k miles, and with just some ocasional rattle I've been maybe too confident that the first one to snap will be my sister's astra. I do appreciate your advice guys and take it serously but I was short of cash to get it fixed.
I have now one last question, as the time to replace the chain has come.
Would it be too risky to only replace the timing chain kit, and keep the same balance shaft chain?
