X marks spot as Saab's supercar joins the jet set
This Saab has really got off to a flier! The company's new sports coupé, the Aero X, brought gasps of delight when it landed in Geneva this week.
The two-seater wowed showgoers with its looks and jet-style opening canopy! Inspired by Saab's aircraft heritage, the Aero X has no side doors to speak of. Instead, the entire panoramic glass roof, wraparound windscreen and side body panels move up and forwards, by remote control, to give access to the cabin.
Inside, the lack of A-pillars allows for uninterrupted 180-degree vision, while further aircraft-style touches include a dash with touchscreens and 3D graphic displays instead of buttons and dials.

LED headlights, dramatic air intakes and massive 22-inch alloy wheels, the 4,675mm-long Aero X is certainly striking.
Under the bonnet is a 400bhp 2.8-litre twin-turbo V6, which runs on eco-friendly bio-ethanol. A seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox - similar to VW's DSG - drives all four wheels of the 155mph car.
Carbon fibre bodywork limits weight to 1,500kg, so the Aero X has immense pace, with 0-60mph in only 4.9 seconds. Practicality impresses, too, with a special hatch mounted in the tail opening to reveal a pull-out storage drawer.
A production version of the Aero X is due in the next two years, while its distinctive looks will influence future Saabs, including the replacement for the 9-5.

Lid is lifted
Side doors are ditched in favour of windscreen and body panels which open by remote control to give access to new Saab's spacious cabin. And bold nose hides V6 that runs on green bio-ethanol
