northiam Contrary to the haynes the only way to hold the crank for a 2.2 auto trans or remove the sump to get at the contverter bolts. The chain has skipped all sprockets The rail has broken into 20 bits found most of it in the sump with the top rail bolt. The cams must be completely out of phase. The worst thing is the top rail bolt I found it the sump but the thread in the head is damaged, im hoping I can retap the thread in situ. Does anyone know what thread it is? M6 maybe. If I cant repair the thread it off with the head, what a nightmare.
pjevo A similiar thing happened to mine - but the root problem was the guide bolt had sheared in the head.......!
northiam Yeh I think the upper guide bolt gets slapped by the chain when the rail wears away. I managed to use a keysert after drilling and tapping a M10 thread. Job done, its running quiet again.
