cant decide what to go for, turbo or suppercharger?

i would like to know what you all think would be better, 2.2 turbo conversion or supercharger? i know both come with a big price tag, but as for power gains in comparison to the money spent which do you think would be more beneficial?

The Supercharger in the Astra hasn't been done yet. Mark Watts at Courtenay Sport is in the process of converting his Astra if you want some helpful advice? I don't think the turbo has been done yet either?

The supercharger is going to be just over £5000 fitted and I think that the turbo is in the same ball park.

High end BHP is about equal.

throttle bodies (£2500) will give a similar power output to a standard sc conversion showo..

standard sc = 210 bhp
stage 2 sc = 240 bhp

throttle bodies = 200 - 220bhp (depending on other mods - cams, exhaust etc)

I'm going the throttle body route and hoping for 220 bhp+ 😃

When i spoke to regal about doing my car, there said they've done 5 turbo conversions on the astra 2.2, and you would gain around 260 bhp. I'm just trying to make my mind up to either get it done or get a new car? shrug..

I would love to fit a turbo to mine but 5K!

Once i have paid off the car this summer i am going to decide weather to sell or go throttle bodie route.

to be honest, it's not worth spending £5k on fitting a turbo to a z22se astra, especially as that does not include uprating the conrods and pistons :shock:

my advice would be to sell the 2.2 astra and buy a z20let astra, it would be cheaper 🙁

with the value of z22se cars falling, spending £5k on the engine is not a good investment dunno..

But if you intend to keep your car for a very long time then go for it, but I would recommend replacing the pistons and fitting Eagle conrods 😃

the conrods snap at 285 bhp, so above 250bhp they won't last long cryb..

also it is much cheaper to import the kit direct from the USA, parts would be about £1500 delivered, rip off britain ! :shock:
