did an oil and filter change a few hundred miles agao (just before i went for a remap), checked the oil today only to find a thin layer of creamy sludge on the cap and a little on the dipstick! Feared the head gasket but the rad water was clean. never had anythin before the oil change. Only thing different is i used Gm 10w40 semi instead of Millers. Hope the head gasket aint on its way out, thats all i need! 🙁

I had this on my car mate. Turned out to be the head gasket, the head was cracked and I was getting water into my spark plug chamber. It needed a new head in the end as it was porus. I also changed my oil a good few times to try and clear it up. I never knew it was my head gasket. I just thought it was condensation from doing short trips.

The brand new head from Vauxhall was just over £500

Well im gonna keep my eye on it and if it gets worse, im gonna sell it, i aint startin throwin £ after £'s at it coz ive done that before, i'd sooner cut my losses :cry: Maybe a Monaro IS on the cards after all!

2 miles to work everyday then about 60-70 miles at weekend but thats what ive always been doing

I do about 12 miles a day, a 6 mile round trip to work, and I've got a slight creamy residue on the oil cap, and mine is a 1.6. I think it's just the time of year, as it's done it for the past 3 winters now.

took the car in to a local garage this morning and they did a co2 test from the radiator, he said it was inconclusive as there may be a tiny bit present but not enough to make the liquid change colour, he said it was just a bit hazy. He showed me but it still looked blue to me. He just said to keep an eye on it, and if i want the head gasket doing it would be about £500 :shock: PLEASE tell me it dont cost so much to do?
I gotta do a 100 mile round trip tonight so if it is condensation i hope this will get shut of it, if theres still mayo on it in the morning i dunno what im gonna do :cry:

i wouldnt worry yourself just yet best thing to do is a coolant compression test when its warm see if it drops at all? also take ya spark plugs out first thing in morn or when its been stood a while see if the top of a piston is wet! has it been missin firein when ya first start it ?? id leave it for now prob just condensation , let it develop if it is a head prob easier to diagnose then! dunno..
