Creaking Noise

It's a very strange noise comes from my astra when i go over speed bumps, but only makes it when the car has been stood for a while i.e overnight, after the car is warm there is no creaking dunno..

It has done this for about two years now just in winter times. I had Vaux look at it last year and they could not find anything and just had my car serviced now and the mech also could not find anything either.

Any ideas? it's not bothering me just would like to know if it can be resolved.

Are your springs ok? Check for wear and tear.

They have been checked and all are ok. It's just odd how it goes away once i have done a couple of miles, and that it only does when it is cold.

I get exactly the same on my veccy m8...aint got a clue wot its is....just dam annoying.

My old scooby impreza did the same. Was down to the exhaust heatshield being loose. When it became hot it expanded and the noise would go away. Could this be the problem?

My mates golf had similar symptoms. It took us a while but we found that the rear damper dust covers that slide up and down the damper body creaked when they where cold and sh!t up in the winter. We took the dampers off, cleaned out the covers and greased them a little, been fine ever since. Perhaps it could be that? Other thing could be the rubber bushes?

my astra does it over speed bumps too! i think it could be down to some dry slightly worn bushes cause it doesn't do it when it's damp!

i have the same trouble with my coupe and found out it where the paint has been rubbed off the spring so that its metal to metal sprayed some spray grease up on the front springs lasted for a few months back now tho
I have seen in the new demon tweaks catalogue page 65 a company called TEIN have put silicon tube over the tops and bottom of the springs where they touch when compressed could be a solution?? or i may be wrong lol 😃 failing that could be top mounts cause I'm sure they got a blasting with grease to..

as you can see in the pic below the paint has come off where the spring is touching while driving (this image is an example cause its a rear one)fronts the same tho

I've also had this problem last winter Simon, and it was the anti-roll bar bushes which were shot on the front.
