Stupid Dog!

I have just bought a new table today and my Rottweiler has been on the top of it today while I was out. It's now got a few scratch marks on it 🙁. Any ideas on what I could do to make it better. It's all pine wood.

the only way to remove them would be to sand the top down and re-varnish 🙁

we had a pine table and had a similar problem with my young kids

I've had the same problem with my cats. I've got a pine dining table and a pine fish tank top and they're both furkin ruined. There's no cure other than resufacing as Vocky has already said.

Cheers for the info. I had to buy some coasters today to cover up some marks. What the problem probably was is where the table is now used to be the dogs bed. She must have though the top of the table is her new bed. I will have to live with the marks for now, I will get it sanded down at a later date..

A French Polisher may be able to sort it out. Have a look in the Yellow Pages. Other than that, see if you can get a local finisher to have a look at it.

when in the custom kitchen trade we used a damp tea towel place it on the marks . then use a hot iron and iron over the marks over the towel . it makes steam and swells the marks out then apply plenty off polish ... use to do lots of repairs when we fitted pine kitchens after they get marked due to pine being very soft ... just make sure the missus knows you are using her iron lol

You got my hopes up there Simon. I've just tried the iron thing and it didn't work for me. I'm assuming that because of the laquer on the table, the steam from the tea-towel won't penetrate into the wood??
