A MASSIVE HUGE thankyou to Daz today for doing my cam chain and balance shaft chain. After a sausage and chips lunch he was on the case. Stripping it down went well. We found the dreaded SMALL oil jet nozzle that Vauxhall assured me wasn't in my engine. 3 phone calls to head office and talks with my main dealer and today has proved them to be full of shit!!
The whole chain area was quite clean really and all looked well. The rebuild went well too. Only one small hitch was holding the cam shafts in position when we were trying to put the cam gear back on. The standard Vauxhall cams have flats on so you can hold them together with 2 spanners and a clamp. The Schrick cams have no flats so we had to hold them in place with a combination of Mole Grips from 'Bodge-it & Scarper'.
Anyway, its all back together and running fine. The chain appeared to sound funny on initial start up but we think that was due to the lack of oil about to start with. I've done about 50 miles on it driving home and it seems good.
