vauxhall email banter - see how it goes

Im not expecting anything from vauxhall but i emailed anyway,
ill see how long it'll go on for, doubt itll get anywhere

first thing i asked :-

Chassis number ******************,enquiring as to wether this car had timing chain replaced as part of a recall,timing chain snapped on way home from work last night

response (took a few days - marevellous thing email)

I can confirm that according to our records the above vehicle has not been a part of a timing chain recall.

I would respectfully recommend that you take your vehicle to a franchised Vauxhall dealership for inspection. The dealership then will be able to contact a Customer Service Manager to review your case.

Hi thanks for the reply,

However i'm currently unable to take the car anywhere in its current condition, timing chain has snapped, rendering the engine no more
use than a door stop, i'm planning on stripping the engine myself to assess the damage, and if the timing chain is of the old type i won't
be a happy bunny - it's in the engine number range of engines that shouldve had a timing chain recall.

Oh that's not good mate, did you have any indication that it was going to go?

What email address did you use and could you either post it here or PM it to me, what information did you give them to be able to check whether it's in range.

just the engine number and chassis number

i emailed them twice asking about my chain and was told on both occasions my car wasn't affected.

when i had my chain replaced recently we found that my car did have the oil style oil jet fitted.
