Pocket Scan ECU Reader

My new Pocket Scan ECU reader turned up today. It was £94.95 inc. VAT. I tried it on the wifes car tonight when I got home and it works perfect. You get an instruction book with all the codes and you get a software disc for your PC with more information and codes. My car is in for the MOT so i'll have to wait until tomorrow night when I get the car back to try it out on mine.

I dont suppose its clever enough to tell you if you power stearing or alternator is about to pack up.

My power steering has become slightly heavier and not sure whats wrong with it.

I've just had a look in the code manual and there are codes for power steering problems and if you have a code pending it will show it as pending. Pending codes are faults that have to appear to the ECU a specific amount of times before the engine light comes on. This is refered to as maturing of a code.

I,m gonna have some fun with mine if thats the case. Had it on the computer the other day and it showed 1 fault and three pending. the light came back on the following day with another 1 plus another three pending, by the end of this month i'll have spent 200+ just on faults because of the light coming on.

Buy one. Its cheaper in the long run.
