Yet another Z22 SE chain snapped

I cant belive I haven't read about this problem before,
I have owned my 2001 Y reg Vectra SRI 150 for 3 years, two days ago I heard a very faint rattle down the side of the engine, phoned my mechanic, and book the chain to be done next week.

Drive home last night the engine just stopped, I've removed the cam cover and the chain has broken.

I am trying to find the best way out of this, do I

-Repair the engine
-fit new/second hand engine
-or sell the car on eBay and start again.

Could any one advise on posible costs

If its only the valves that are knackered then you have the perfect exscuse to fit a gas flowed head.

mine sanaped to mate i was luck i got a complete new engine if it was me i would keep it and rebuild it if you do it yourself youd keep costs down but if you want a second hand engine try here Megavaux theres a few 2.2 engines floating about if you do go second hand engine route change the chain and jet before puting it in for peice of mind.

Phoned Cust services today, no luck car has done 85,000 with little VX service history,

Have looked into repair/second hand engine, but have decided to order a engine from Vaxhall(Trade Club) £1350+VAT

Should take 3 days from order, I wish I'd found this web site a few week ago, would have saved me a fortune.

WARNING to any one with a 2000/2001 z22se engine get it checked, my chain snapped with no chain noise or rattles, the engine was very quite.

glad you got things sorted mate pity your 1400 pound out of pocket though but least youl get a few more years out the motor now 😃 thats what i thought when i got my new engine
