No Sound

My sound has just stopped working. All the plugs seems to be pushed in as far as they will go. I took out the speaker input to the sound card and plugged in some headphones and there's no sound thru' them either.

Would I be right to assume that my sound card is furked??

My sound card is an onboard type I think. Its not one that pushes into the spare PC slots.

Try retstarting the pc john,,,this happens to me sometime for no reason,also chk in the volume control that it hasnt been muted...

If you go to Control Panel - Sound]

Have a look in there, and this should list the sound card options.

Another way is to right click on My Computer, click Properties. Go to Hardware, and look to see if the soundcard is installed and working correctly.

Tried turning it off. I've vacumed it out and put it back together again and checked the Hardware bit and still bugger all!

hi also try inserting your motherboard cdrom as you could reinstall the drivers from there! windows is shitty and sometimes a program or recent instalation can conflict with current installed drivers. As Matt said right click on my computer, select propeties, then device manager.. then if you see anything with a red cross or yellow exclamation mark next to it that indicates an error or missing driver.

Bought a new sound card today. Got one from PC World for £12.49 and it works a treat. The other on-board sound must have just packed up.

Good now though and it's 5.1 too.
