always is when I first start a rebuilt engine :roll:

the worst bit is waiting for the oil light to go out :shock:

just got to fill the radiator and let it reach normal temp 🙂

then the rear clam can go back on 8)

not sure if I'm working yet or if I will take it dunno..

the wheels have yet to be refurbed or replaced, so they let the car down 🙁

filled the radiator this evening, not an easy task on a vx220 dunno..

a quick 'how2' :lol:

I filled the expansion tank until it levelled out, then I opened the radiator bleed valve until anti-freeze mix came out, then I removed the upper heater hose from next to the thermostat, filled the hose until the mix reached the top, refitted the hose, then left it for one hour and topped up the expansion tank, then checked it every hour and topped up when required.

this mornings progress 🙂

refitted the heatshields to the rear clam, modified the upper section to fit the 4-2-1 cutout

fitted the exhaust wrap to the header, this will protect the clam 🙂

then refitted the clam 😃

just enough clearance :lol:

Looks great mate, you're making really fast progress

I've heard a few bad things about exhaust wrap - whereby if it's not perfectly even it can cause hot / cold spots on the manifold and eventually lead to cracking :? are you sure it's needed?

I thought it would take 18 months, but it's taken 15 weeks so far and will be finished in the next couple of weeks 😃

My weaponR 4-2-1 manifold is three years old and has had exhaust wrap fitted since new and I've had no problems 🙂

I was going to fit a heat shield to the clam, but theres little room for one and as the exhaust wrap worked on my vec I thought it was worth a go on my vx220 dunno..

If I had made the cutout bigger then maybe there would be no heat issue dunno..

I've now reconnected the rear clam wiring loom and relays 🙂

Then I made a start on the interior, removed the drivers seat and then refitted the rear bulkhead panel and speakers.

Cleaned the floor and refitted the passenger footrest, I decided to remove the sill pocket trims (next to the seats on the sill) - I don't like them dunno..

Just got to clean the seats and then they can go back in, then paint the dash trims and door panels

today I've cleaned and refitted both seats and refitted the boot lid 😃

today I've fitted the rear clam mudflap trims, refitted the engine tray and fitted my new rear diffuser drool.gif
