Replace Heatsink on CPU

I've recently acquired my Dad's old PC, and the fan on the heatsink is making a right racket.

I did buy a quit running fan to replace it, but it's not powerful enough. So I'd like to replace the whole Heatsink with a new one including fan, with something like this:

The CPU is a 2.7ghz AMD.

How do you remove the old heatsink, as I've never had a go at this before notsure.gif

when i repaced mine on an old pc a couple of years ago it just clipped onto the motherboard.

not sure about newer ones.

good video that, pretty much the same as mine except mine didn't have the screws.

I don't think mine has the screws either, going to have a look at it tonight

just be carefull with the screw driver, don't wanna damage the m/board.

i wanna upgrade from my 3 gig p4 to one of the new core 2 duo chips (or what ever they are called lol)

This is fast enough at the minute for me, plus it was free. I've already stuck another 250gig harddrive in there, and nother 2 fans. Got the case temp down to a stable 30deg C, and the CPU currently sits at 42 under normal load, but the fan is making a right racket, which is why I want to chage it. The quiet fan I bought just wasn't powerful enough for the CPU, as temp went to 50deg C with no load on the CPU.
