m_p_rogers Almost as though you had set a stopwatch, my engine cuts out everytime of starting after 3 to 4 mins, have changed the EGR cheater and coil pack but not sure where to go next, anyone got any thoughts?
m_p_rogers Hi Vocky, I've managed to track down my OpCom reader, but have lost the CD with the software on. Can it be downloaded from the web ?
gsi2000 Hi try clearing codes and run engine again long enough for it to log current error codes, then use op-com again to check, some of those may be old codes. but with injector one and two showing a present fault then i'd start looking at cleaning or replacing injectors, inspecting wiring to the injectors. it looks tho at some point all the injectors have had a fault so my guess could be down to wiring (faulty earth, wire, fuse, relay etc etc)
m_p_rogers So cleared the fault codes and ran the engine, after idling for 10-15 mins its still running, couple of misfires after 3 or 4 mins, but otherwise fine. Can't really give it a run as don't trust it not to die (and not restart as it been doing) - will give it another go tomorrow and try and get it to through a code - think you're on the right lines with the wiring etc...
gsi2000 Has the engine had any work done on it recently? could try unplugging wires to the injectors, making sure contacts are clean and reattaching them. Its a longshot but worth ago.
m_p_rogers No, no work beyond routine servicing in the last few years. Will take a look at the injectors Thanks!
KevinH It is worth checking the two purple relays in the rectangular fuse/relay box located on top of the ABS unit. One of them is the fuel pump relay and the other engine management relay (not sure which one is which). Best to remove them one at a time (they can be rather awkward and stiff), clean the terminals with a piece of emery then smear some vaseline on the terminals and replace. Ensure the ignition is switched off or error codes will show up. 🙂
KevinH Thanks @[deleted], I couldn't remember off the top of my head, but could have looked it up on TIS. 🙂
m_p_rogers Checked both relays, cleaned contacts, drove car for 10mins or so, no issues so far. Interestingly the plastic top to the ECU relay, looked slightly brown, as though it had gotten too hot. Think I might replace it. Thanks
