tensioner question

hi, can someone explain to me please regarding the revised timing chain tensioner that was originally used in the z20net, it has just been fitted in my 2.2 direct signum alongside a timing and balance chain kit - does this tensioner rely on oil pressure like the previous one ?

the later design (z20net style) has a redesigned internal mechanism. This uses the spring to keep a basic tension on the chain and once the engine starts the oil pressure takes over.
