Balance shaft delete - alternative method

Hey guys @[deleted] @[deleted] @[deleted] just wondering if the balance shaft delete is feasible using balance shaft sprockets that actually spin without turning the balance shafts themselves. Something like these.....

If so does anyone know of any suitable sized sprockets with bearings that could be made to work??

Im asking because i really dont wont to or have the equipment to remove the engine from my car and ive wanted to do this delete for some time now. I open to other balance shaft delete methods i can use without taking the engine out of the car. .

I have thought of that option, but finding a suitable sprocket is not easy.

The easiest way of deleting them is to fit an electric coolant pump and simply remove the balancer chain. But this is not the cheapest method 🙁

as vocky said elec pump means you can just take the chain off but then its a right proper ball ache to fit an elec pump and get it to work right like the original pump

Oh bugger! Electric pump is out for the same reason as engine removal - dont have the expertise/equipment to do it! What about modifying the existing sprockets?? Id be happy to pay one of u skilled fellows to fabricate them....

the sprockets are only like 4-5mm thick as they mount on the end of the shaft via a keyway so im not sure there would be room to fit a bearing in one ive not got the access to the machines to even attempt it
still easier to pop the oil pump cover off pull the rear shaft out knock the bearing in 7.5mm then pull the front shaft out as far as it will go then cut it in half pull the remainder out and knock that bearing in 7.5mm and make the idlers out of whats left of the shafts

Cheers Carl🙂 so the rear shaft will come out whole and the front shaft will need only one cut in half?? I was under the impression multiple cuts for both shafts. And then just a case of being really carfeful with parallex errors when knocking the bearing in 7.5mm!!! Will there be enuff room to give a hammer a swing to knock the bearing in i thought it required a fair whack to move???

they require a 'good' hard whack to get them moving, then a few not so hard hits until it's moved 7.5mm

did my 1s set with the engine in the car but i lowered the sub frame on one side till there was room to get the front shaft out

Thanks but i think thats beyond me🙁. Might see what a garage charges to pull the engine out and reinstall. Hope all u guys here at z22se have a merry christmas and thanks again for the help🙂

to be fair its not a big job to remove the engine, even i can change the clutch in the corsa in under 6 hours which means dropping the sub frame and then the engine to get gearbox off. so a good day should see balancer shafts removed.
good idea about using a free spinning sprocket. finding one or making a pair may prove more difficult

Going to try and source an idler sprocket as the other options are not viable for me. Can anyone tell me what spec i should be searching for, number of teeth diameter and any other info that i might need to provide a supplier with when asking about them

okay u stumble over you thread here and kinda wondered what the pint in cutting the shafts is wouldnt the engine be a bit more shaky when driving ?

Apparently no. Many have removed them and report no difference in vibration and a lot better engine acceleration because of the lower reciprocating mass. Well documented here just search the forum. Can someone here @[deleted] @[deleted] @[deleted] please tell me the dimensions of the balance shaft sprocket as i have found a company that can custom make idler sprockets at decent price!!! All i know is that it has 21 teeth - need to know further

overall diameter of sprocket
2 number of links on the balance chain
The size of the bolt that holds the sprocket - m6 etc
Width of the sprocket

Anyone???
