Which Corsa C engine??

Looking to get a Corsa C in the next couple of weeks..
Narrowed it down to an SRi and 3 engine choices..
1.2
1.4
1.7 derv..

It's mainly for short trips... shopping, kids clubs, occasional 20 miles to bigger towns and family and, a couple of times a year, 250miles to N.Wales..

So many conflicting tales of these engines, anyone want to put their oar in the water and help me out??

diesels are not much good for short trips. get sooted up quick.
i would say 2.2 😉
or if not a 1.2 get better mpg from my 2.2 than the 1.2.

This is my worry with a derv tbh.. I know a couple that have been proper messed up by too many short trips..

I think the missus wants me to get a Corsa so she has a home for the 2.2 when the Vectra rots.

Couldn't afford to insure a modded car at the moment.. quotes for a 1.4 Corsa are coming in only £50 cheaper than I pay for the Saab 9-5 2.0t.

Might have to think outside the Vauxhall box to save some money... perish the thought.

corsa's always cost more to insure, because most are driven buy kids. 🙁
there is 2 1.4 engined corsa C's the z14xe with a timing belt and the z14xep with a chain.
i think the z14xe is the best out of those 2.
if not then the z12xep.

the insurance is probably so high due to the many thefts of the Corsa C front ends, they steal the wings, bonnet, bumper and headlights whilst the car is parked up.

The 1.8 is £100 more to insure than my Saab.. it's insane..

Also looking at 206's now, the 1.4hdi will save me quite a bit. Even that is only £50 cheaper to insure though.

But tax is only £30 and they do 60+ to a gallon..

I need to tighten the belt for a bit.
Although I've just seen a lovely looking 2.2 astra convertible in Titan gold within budget... whistles

you got me worried now vocky!
i now there's a lot of corsa D's getting stripped and other cars.
even at car shows in the car parks!
pods getting a bad rep for this now 🙁
