Berto Been cleaning up my TB (after 193K km ~ 120K miles it had tons of dirt, courtesy of cam breather & EGR ). . . Now I understand that, without a dedicated idle control valve, some air must be let in even in the closed position, but (just to be sure) is this humongous gap OK when "closed"? :
figo126 give it a push it will shut more,,,,, motor in tb will operate when ignition is turned on and close more,,,,
Berto You're quite right Figo, it shuts to a much more cogent position when I push it closed . Apparently it's just that the "relaxed" valve position is a bit open. Thanks for the info and apologies for the noob question.
Berto Engine runs noticeably smoother after thoroughly cleaning up the intake tract and throttle body, which seems to hold fast even with just nipped up bolts. Now I've got the EGR in my sights ...
vocky fit a blanking plate and swivel the EGR valve over the side so that it can still open downwards - you might need a longer bolt due to having the blanking plate underneath the corner of the valve.
