Kess Remap equipment Dilemma

I am in a bit of a dilemma people. A pal of mine has got this Kess equipment, But obviously does not know yet how to operate it properly.
He was quite insistent last night about reading the ecu, So he was in the middle of this process when just over 50% complete he pulled the plug out of the obd port because it was taking too long. Now the car will not start:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

So i need a bit of advice how to sort it. i have not read up on it too much yet but so far, i can gather that re-setting the ecu could solve the problem

So i need to know from others a bit more clued up if possible i.e.

@[deleted] @[deleted] @[deleted] @[deleted] . i have quickly glanced through the forums and i see the aforementioned people talking about it so if i could get some help it would be greatly appreciated

He has someone who he would send the map file to. This was done at 12am so could be a while before he gets any info from this guy who he texted like 1 in the morning

I think opcom can do a reset but not too sure if would fix your issue.

i did have a base file on my backup hdd but the hdd failed last week and ive lost 10 years worth of pics and all the other bits
tech2 can do a hard reset but you need tech2 to do it

Ok thanks for the reply's people , hopefully my pal has been in contact with the map guy and he has given him a bit of guidance on what to do.

I will take my opcom along to car see if that can do anything, and i think my mate knows someone with tech 2 equipment.

He has made a bit of an arse up of this,a F'ing nightmare. It seems he does not understand 100% how to operate this equipment yet

I would have thought you would create a backup first before you start meddling about.

It seems the big mistake he made was pulling the plug halfway through the reading process.

The little square button beside the stereo, I think it is the traction control button, my pal says it is traffic management or something like that. the led lit up after this fiasco and in about 7 years of owning the car it has never lit up even after pressing the button. Hopefully he has found a solution for about teatime tonight

@[deleted], for info, the square button by the radio (has a Tm on it) is TrafficMaster by Oracle which was a yearly subscription service but has not been available for 3 or 4 years now. If you press the button a red light will come on and you should hear a.message. 🙂

Ok thanks @[deleted] , its just never lit up before all the time i've had the car but early this morning it lit up and mine is green btw, i also never heard a message

My pal got his solus diag machine but it could not communicate with the car
He's been in contact with the map guy who said check the fuses and call him tonight when you have the kess machine hooked up just about to go along with my opcom see if i can do anything with it, i also told him carl has suggested doing a hard reset with tech2 , i know he knows someone with one cause i was with him a couple months back when he phoned tech2 guy asking about egr delete so hopefully not in this situation for long

Well the problem is solved, i went with my opcom next day but there was no connection the laptop was saying connect interface, so i thought f##king brilliant then i checked all the fuses inside the car, all were fine i checked all fuses under bonnet all were fine.

So i went back inside car and turned the key. It started up. Phew. i don't know if it was an act of god or whatever but it is running ok now .

My pal contacted the guy he sends the map file to , he told him pulling the plug should not have caused that problem

There was a blown fuse on the floor my mate i think must have swapped the fuse the night before, but i'm not sure if we attempted to start the car again after that.

So it could have been a coincidence that a fuse blew at the time he pulled the lead from obd port

So luckily car is running again.

He even offered to get the map done for free cause the guy doing the mapping offered to do the first one free, but i think i will give it a miss got enough headaches. This palaver has put me off.
