Vauxhall giving me a brand new engine!

Well its been an on going problem with my Z22SE over the last year with a constant loss of oil. First from a cracked head then burning it from a faulty oil scraper ring.

You would think that they could fix the ring and away you go, but no! Yes away I went in a ploom of blue smoke and rattles and bangs!

Sorry sir, there is indeed a fault! Really!

This was all last week, today I got a call from the dealer telling me that I am to get a brand spanking new engine!

Few strange things though, Car due for its 40k or should I say 31k service in 3k, so I asked if the service scedual will be reset to follow the new engine. No sir, to keep your warrinty you have to keep to the existing one. How strange? It will have 3k on the clock but wil have to have a 40k service.£££

Anyway the main point to this thread is to ask you guys what I need to do in regards with DVLA and engine number etc. Also when I come to sell her in a few years the engine will have done 30k less than it says on the clock. A good thing you might say, but would you buy a car with this? Is there a form or letter I should be asking for?

Section 7 on the new style V5 forms is what you will need to fill in to notify the DVLA of the new engine number (Part 28 is the engine number)

As for the warrenty, thats rediculous. The engine will have only just started to run in, so there is no way it needs a 40k service. It sounds to me like you've been talking to a pleb who's just reading off a script. As for engine mileage, just keep all the documentation which comes with the new engine, and take note of the exact milage on the clocks when the old one comes out, and the date, as you'll not be able to change the milage of the car. Whe you come to sell it, advertise it as doing xxxx miles on new engine.

Cheers matt. Going to give the dealer one last chance, then im off to customer services to get some compo! The least they can offer me is a years warranty on the new engine.

you should get 12 months warranty on all new vx parts fitted by the dealer 😃

With all the crap ive put up with im hoping to get a year on the engine at least. Lets see what the dealer has to say, if not im on to griffin house.
