My Astra (02) has been laid up as the power steering went and dash lit up light a Xmas - The alternator failed, however I am now planing a trip to southern Spain and was wondering what you guys would recommend I do before the drive (apart from put a new alternator on her).
She has 60K on clock and full history, runs like a Swiss watch BUT I have had a few electrical probs with her such as rear lights not working, alternator probs, coil pack etc.
What should I be changing/carrying spares for before I leave??

P.S am i right in thinking that the alternator directly powers the power steering so that is the reason for loss of it when the alternator died?
