Fitting New Valves and Lifters to a New Head

Hi Guys, I'm ready to rebuild my Z22SE head, and would greatly appreciate some advice.

I have a brand new bare head, a full set of new valves, a full set of new lifters, and a new follower to replace a broken one - oh and my trusty Haines.

**Q1: **Do I need to grind/lap the valves if they're brand new and going into a new head?
**Q2: **Do I need to replace the valve-stem collets or are the old ones OK?
Q3: Is there a hot-tip for compressing the springs and getting the collets back on - without a spring-compressor?
Q4: Should this all be done by an expert - not me? - I've done chains and have patience:smuggrin:, but haven't done head components and have little budget left:unsure:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Stuart

yes you need to lap valve seats in , can be done with drill or old fashion way a stick with a sucker on both ends , you keep old collets but worth changing valve stem oil seals while you've got head off, really need compressor to put valves back together , and will be done a lot quicker done at machine shop but no harm in trying will be lots of videos on youtube ,,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks for info "figo126", will do - I have oil seals with the gasket kit so will do these too. Might price a shop-job to put it all together, versus buying/hiring a spring-compressor.

just sent my z20net head to get , skimmed, pressure tested , valves relapped, rebuilt , and a bath in his cleaner to look brand new £100 ,,,,
