Part in the GM kit thats not used on a z22yh

We've just done both the chain kits on a Signum z22yh using GM kits and i could see no use for this part, any ideas why its there..

Comes up as a spacer for the crankshaft sprocket.

Were you given the correct chain kits as there is a difference between the SE and YH kits so I've been told.

It was all bought through autovaux from the registration of the car. Everything else matched up perfect..

Just wish i'd known or thought about getting an end case seal for the oil pump / crank.. As it'd be all done today.

Hi Steve,

It's not used on the Z22SE\YH engines, but it is on the Saab B207 engines - I think it's used to align the lower sprocket

That's for all the help guys 🙂 It's the first time we've done one and it was a challenge with the engine out of the car, so gawd knows what it's like with it in?

@[deleted] can do them blindfold almost with the engine in the car. Did mine is 6 hours with ease and a chat, would always recommend him anytime.

The timing chain kits for the YH have one of the camshaft sprocket different which has a camshaft sensor. The camshaft sprockets for the Z22SE are identical and the DIS module mimics the signal.
The balance shaft kits are identical for the SE & YH.

the spacer is for the very latest z22se cranks or the B207 cranks, these have been machined differently and thus you need to space the balancer chain sprocket out from the crank.

The reason is because GM decided to use a sprung balancer chain sprocket instead, which is much wider than the z22se / z22yh solid one piece sprocket.
