Engine number?

Hi,

Where should i be looking for the engine number on a z22yh? is it the number to the top left of the cam cover wheres there's 2 lines of numbers?

Steve, you should be able to see it engraved on the front 'flat' side of the oil filter housing.🙂
It will also be on the Vauxhall 'Carpass' (credit card size) usually with the owners manual pack if you have it.

Kevin, that's excellent.Thanks to the timing chain, i now know where the engine number is 🙂

What's happened to your timing chain? Has it given up the ghost?

Ah OK, just read your post saying that "the chain departed" and you bought another engine.

Hey it's ok.. it happens 🙂

The engine was seemingly using alot of oil, so when the chain went it seemed an easier option to buy a replacement engine. After removing the current engine it looks like
the oil loss was probably a seal issue, but i've not really looked.

Interestingly it appears the failure was possibly down to the oil filter crumbling.. which is a sharp lesson for the future!.

Yes, oil and oil filter changes are definitely required more frequently than the Vauxhall recommendation. I would suggest twice a year at least, using a genuine GM oil filter and a good quality oil.

I think you're more than right there. Expensive game changing and engine and chains, just for the cost of a filter 🙂

Got the engine number, just needed a good clean.
