Thought I would say hello, recently bought a 2.2 z22yh 07 plate signum, my dad bought it cheap with a gearbox problem its an auto and was holding in gear, and offered it to me for a bargin (I need a new daily driver)
The previous owner had also had a misfire, that was solved with a new coil pack and plugs (so we belived), I went to Nottingham to collect the car from Plymouth the moment we started the car there was a misfire, I decided that I would take the risk and drive it back to Plymouth.
The car was very sluggish and underpowered (I expect part of the reason the gearbox was not changing properly).with a rattle when backing off the throttle at about 3k rpm.
I drove the car back to Plymouth and the next day started to inpect it,i compression tested the engine and all 4 cyliders came out at 250 psi, making me beive there was no problem with the ''core'' engine, the rattle sounded like it was coming from the inlet so I decided that it might be the swirlflaps so removed the inlet, nope they were all good.
so then off came the rocker (in hind sight I wish I would have taken that off as much to my disbelief I was greated with a very slack timing chain, how it drove 260 miles without coming off is well beyond me

ive removed both cams so I can now leak down check the engine but the valves are looking good though the exhaust ports so I think somehow I might have got away with it.
I don't know whats failed yet, ive removed the tensioner and that is fully extended but not failed as far as I can tell, ill get it more stripped next week when the weather gets better.
bit of a long winded hello LOL
