Catalytic Converter

I swapped the centre box on my Astra recently and noticed that the original CAT is starting to show signs of rust and there is a slight blow near the join after the second lambda sensor.

Vauxhall want the best part of £1000 but there are type approved CATs on ebay for £70+. This is a massive difference and who can justify a new OEM CAT at those prices.

My question is should i just purchase a cheap one or go for a bespoke 2" 200 cell sport cat, again cheap of ebay but would need welding into a new downpipe?

Anyone have any experience of the cheaper CATs?

This is the sport cat I've got fitted to my coupe mine in 2.5'' due to upgrade but you can get in 2.25'' size also

I think I'm going to go with the basic version and not sports cat.

There is a company called BM Catalyst that supply an approved and non approved version BM90839 and BM90839H, what would be the difference between these?
