Spluttering and holding back

Hi folks, my 1st post on here.

Ive just bought a 52 plate vectra c last night with the z22se lump, no chain rattle and a genuine 91k miles on the clock.

The motor idles absolutely fine but as soon as i try to accellerate its splutters badly and holds back. The only way it can be driven is the literally touch the pedal, if its driven like this it will go through the revs with no misfiring but as soon as any sort of load is put on the motor it jumps about all over the place

Any ideas?

id go for simple stuff first, plugs, fuel filter and air filter. be careful not to over tighten the plugs as there a tapper fit n can crack the head. have a look at the 4th plug to see if it looks any different to the rest. has it got an egr valve fitted? if so get that cleaned out or blanked off n cheated and clean the throttle body out.

Ive had a few of these nd its the 1st vec c z22se ive had with an egr fitted lol, will have a look today and let you know 😉

might be worth cleaning the throttle body and resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery or pulling the ecu fuse for ten minutes.

update

So far the spark plugs have been replaced
-fuel filter replaced
-throttle body cleaned up
-maf replaced (this made a difference for a while)

Plenty of fuel in the tank, the car was driveable for a few hours so dkne some running about in it. Heading back home after doing about 20 miles and the car went back to the way it was when i collected it and also noticed when starting after its been sat a while it winds over for a while before actually firing....this isnt temp related as it does this from cold, and if uts been ran up to temp and sat an hour.

Then yesterday took a while to start again and ran the way it did after the bits were replaced, so close to just stripping the thing :-/

Gonna ive it a go today Chris, only thing left that it can be really, cant see the ecu being the cause o_O

Ive replaced it matey, also stuck a plate in the feed from the head to the inlet aswell just to eliminate it 😉

if a new MAF helped, it might be worth checking the wiring just in case there is a broken wire
