zaffy 2.2 z22se engine missing a wire from sump to....

Hi guys, I hope someone can help me.... I have a zaffy 2.2 z22se engine, its had a few issues which I am gradually Getting fixed.... This is a issue I would like some help with... The wire that leads from the sump oil level sender is missing! I can see it leads up the side of the engine as someone has cut all the clips, but where does it go to? Is it a single wire or joined in a loom? Its a mystery I would like solved! Help!?

the sump has the connector mounted near the starter motor, the wiring goes into the engine loom and onto the dash.

So its probley impossible for me to find if its been cut somewhere

you would need to strip the loom tape from the loom and see if you can find the cut wires.

Where shouts would the loom be? There's so many wires

start from the bottom, underneath, at the engine, you will see a plug connected to the sump and follow it up the way.

ok i see you said its missing in first post

It should look like this leading up to the starter motor, so you need to look around the starter motor for a cut wire

Hi,thanks for the pic and help, the wires I have bought off ebay, were for a Astra so not quite right but the sump wires does fit the colour of these wires is brown/green and brown I am thinking these might he the same? What confuses me is the direction on which this cable would of run... As there is cut cable ties up the side of the engine around the black plastic thing on corner and down a cross the front of the radiator? Totally lost on where these wires have gone

you will have separate oil in the gearbox, really depends which gearbox you have ?

You probably have the F23 gearbox.
To renew the transmission oil, position an oil drain can beneath the gearbox and working from underneath the car remove the drain plug located on the side of the gearbox using an Allen key (usually very close to the subframe making it awkward) and allow the old oil to drain fully. Replace the drain plug, then remove the oil level plug which is located to the rear of the differential housing and also remove the oil filler plug located on top of the gearbox casing.
Using a funnel, fill the transmission with the appropriate grade oil (usually about 1.6 Litres) until it begins to trickle from the level plug hole, then refit the level plug and tighten to specified torque (35 Nm).
NOTE - For some F23 transmissions the oil filler plug has a yellow mark on it which requires a further 0.5 Litre as part of a Vauxhall modification.

I believe Vauxhall now recommend part # 93165290 which is 75W-85 (red in colour).

The gearbox in your link above could be an M32 6 speed found in the Astra VXR.

To be honest, I don't think there's much difference in difficulty - you'd have to jack the car up and remove n/s front wheel and the drainage/filling procedure is then similar for both. 🙂

If your not to keen to do the job yourself then, ask a garage how much it would be to have it done.
