Who's first choice for insurance?

Ours is due next month and, running the deets through the comparison sites, we're getting quotes around £400 comp.
With her being 41 and me being 49, on a 2001 Vectra SRi 150, seems steep so I'm looking to get that figure down to a more sensible one.

Would rather go to the best - with regard to cover, service and cost, first..

So let's 'ave it... who ya gonna call?

I've been with LV for many years (used to be Frizzell) and have a Vectra SRi 150 (2001) too - the premium was £245.00 last year. 🙂
(I currently have 80% no claim discount with them)

I got a £218 quote from Hastings Direct. That's my target to beat now. Which, unfortunately, excludes Prestige.

I'm going to have a bash at Chris Knott and hadn't considered Direct Line, previous quotes from them haven't been very competitive - will give 'em a whirl, see what gives.

We've been with Swinton for a few years now and this will be our first renewal with the Vectra. If I don't have to change insurer I won't but am definitely shopping about for a decent quote.

Hi there Dan, I won't be 17 for 6 months now, but I was just looking to get a rough quote
I tried calling before but I was told I would be uninsurable
I was wandering if there would be any way of getting insured for an Astra 2.2 or a rough quote

Chris knott is good until renewal time comes then they jump up the price. Mine doubled last year even without any claims. Managed to get it back down to about £200 with someone else and chris knott matched it after i sent in proof.

Just remember though insurance prices are going up and the increase in insurance premium tax isnt helping matters

Yeah.. dunno whether they still do but insurers used to be able give an introductory discount for the first year..
Current insurer is coming up at £400 for similar (but not quite as good) cover as Hastings who quoted £218.. they (current) also charge me £11/month for breakdown cover whereas Hastings can include it for _£3/month.
If we go with Hastings it's £23/month as opposed to over £38.. substantial saving methinks.
Since the insurance is in Kirstys' name with me as named driver, she'll be doing hitting the phone if she wants to..

Imo hastings are shite with piss poor customer service but they might have changed now granted as i havent been with them for about 6/7 years.

Just double check you have the cover you need with hastings as well mate as they offer 2 types of cover, a basic one and another

I'll go through what they're offering with a fine toothed comb mate, that's for sure.. been insuring cars and bikes since 1983 and have had my fair share of shoddy service - never dealt with Hastings though.. I have 'til the 26th Jan so can afford to shop around a while yet..
I remember when Performance Direct were the best option for higher group cars and getting the best deal involved a whole day on the phone... and petrol was something like £1.50 a gallon (of 4 star). Good times.

Quick update.. bought insurance through Hastings Direct. £260 for their comp premier cover including zero voluntary excess (£100 compulsory), w/screen protection, protected ncb and breakdown cover (w/out home start).
Kinda got fed up searching and I don't do phone calls.. it's easily £100 less than tpf&t from my current broker so we're happy with that.
